Reflections
We’re down to the last quarter of the year. September to October in China presents a number of holidays, and that meant more time with family (and less time for work)!
The workaholic in me struggles every time during holidays because I find it hard to let go of work. So now, coming back from the holidays, instead of winding down for the year, I added a couple more goals to complete before the year ends.
Despite everything on my plate, there is a constant want to do more and achieve more. This is perhaps the struggle for most business owners – not knowing when to stop.
Question for reflection: How do you know when it’s time to slow down and take a pause?
For deeper monthly reflections, I pick a scenario card at random and for this month:
What if … you were invited to write a single line for a fortune cookie without anyone knowing what you had written? What would you write?
This would be what I would write: Everything you need is right in front of you.
This is one of the many insights I gained through the narrative coaching programme with David Drake. As a coach, we’re not there to teach our clients what to do. We need to believe in our clients that they have what it takes to solve whatever problems they may face.
This has also become a reminder for me during coaching sessions that I, too, have what I need in front of me – the client.
